Zelensky says 4.5 million Ukrainians are without power after Russian attack

Some 4.5 million Ukrainians, more than 10% of the pre-war population, were temporarily without power on Thursday night due to Russian attacks, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video speech.

Zelenskiy said those affected were residents of Kiev and 10 other regions. He urged local authorities to conserve energy, saying this is not the time to keep windows or bright signs lit.

This Thursday, Moscow and Kiev, capitals of Russia and Ukraine respectively, will each hand over 107 captured fighters. This will be the most recent exchange of prisoners between the two countries.

The information was passed on by the Russian administrator of Russian-controlled parts in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. Denis Pushilin communicated the exchange behind his Telegram channel.

On 21 September, the two countries carried out the biggest exchange of prisoners since the beginning of the war. There were 300 people involved, 215 Ukrainians and 55 Russians and pro-Moscow Ukrainians.
