Through a publication on the social network X, Zelensky wrote that he called the pontiff and both talked about the country at war.

The Ukrainian leader said that he thanked the Pope for his support and that Ukraine profoundly values the words of the pontiff “about the need to achieve just and lasting peace for the country and the liberation of prisoners.”
Another issue discussed in a connection were the thousands of Ukrainian children deported to Russia.
According to Zelensky, the country “has the help of the Vatican to bring them back to their families.”
Still on the war, he mentioned the meeting with European leaders over the weekend. “I informed the Pope on the agreement between Ukraine and our partners that, from today, a total and unconditional ceasefire for at least 30 days should start.”
“I also reaffirmed the country’s readiness for new negotiations in any format, including direct conversations – a position that we have repeatedly emphasized. Ukraine wants to end this war and is doing everything to achieve this,” he added.
According to him, the countries expect similar measures from Russia.
Finally, in the publication Volodymyr Zelensky says he invited the Pontiff to make an apostolic trip to Ukraine, reporting that “the visit would bring real hope to all the faithful and all our people.”
The Ukrainian President reported that both agreed to maintain contact and plan a face -to -face meeting in the near future.

“Ukraine and all allies are ready for a total and unconditional ceasefire on land, air and sea for at least 30 days, starting on Monday,” Sybiha continued, adding that a “lasting truce” could pave the way for large-scale peace negotiations if Russia agrees.
The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Mark Rutte, stated in an X publication that participated in a call with more than 20 world leaders on Saturday morning (10) in order to “advance efforts to ensure fair and lasting peace for Ukraine.”
“This begins with a 30-day unconditional ceasefire and should be sustained by continuous and concrete support,” Rutte added.

Ukraine and allies in Europe have asked Russia President Vladimir Putin, who agrees with a 30-day ceasefire, with an immediate start on Monday (12).
So far, Russia has refused to commit to a 30 -day interruption, claiming to support the idea in principle, but insists that there is what it calls “nuances” that need to be approached first.
