Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the country’s army on Thursday (8) for its ability to “surprise” and achieve results, making no direct reference to the situation in a region where Moscow claims Kiev has crossed the border and started fighting inside Russian territory.
The Ukrainian military appears to have adopted a strategy of strict silence for now over activities in Russia’s Kursk region, where Moscow said Kiev’s military has been operating since Tuesday.
“Everyone can see that the Ukrainian army knows how to surprise. And it knows how to achieve results,” Zelensky said at an event to unveil a new digital app to reduce the military’s paperwork.
“This is demonstrated by the battlefield, where our soldiers not only resisted the overwhelming force of the occupiers, but also destroyed it in the way necessary to protect Ukraine – our statehood and independence,” he said in a video of the presentation posted on Telegram.
