Emergency crews are working to deal with power problems in many parts of Ukraine after the Russian attacks, particularly in the Black Sea port of Odessa, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
“At this time it has been possible to partially restore the supply to Odessa and other cities and regions,” he said in his videotaped speech overnight. “We are doing everything to reach the best result under the conditions that have developed after the Russian strikes,” he added.
Russian forces used Iranian-made drones to strike two energy plants in Odessa on Saturday, cutting off power to about 1.5 million customers. Zelensky stated that Odessa was among the regions with the most frequent power outages.
Other regions facing “very difficult” power supply conditions are the Kyiv region and four other regions in western Ukraine. Work to restore electricity to the general population is ongoing, Zelensky said.
