Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today it was “too early” to be happy, commenting on the resumption of grain exports from the port of Odessa and the message of optimism sent to avert a global food crisis.
“At this time it is too early to draw conclusions and make any predictions,” he said in his video message today. “Let’s wait and see how the agreement will work and whether security will really be guaranteed,” added the Ukrainian president.
Ukraine has been unable to send its grain abroad via the Black Sea due to a Russian blockade on its ports since February 24, when the war broke out. The two countries signed a UN-sponsored deal in Istanbul last month aimed at resuming exports to avoid a global food crisis.
