Ukraine’s armed forces must wait to receive the appropriate weapons before deploying to liberate parts of the country occupied by Russian troops, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday.
“We need the right equipment” to liberate the maximum number of our citizens, “said the Ukrainian head of state, who spoke during a meeting with Slovak President Zuzana Tsaputova. He insisted that Ukrainian forces would not rush into action in the occupied territories, as this would result in tens of thousands of casualties.
Mr Zelensky did not specify what kind of weapons he thought would be needed for such operations. He has been pushing the West to supply the Ukrainian army with heavy weapons for a long time.
