Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today visited Ukrainian troops on the front line in Kharkov, his office said, according to Reuters.
The visit marks his first official appearance outside the Kiev region since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
“You are risking your life for all of us and for our country,” Zelensky told Ukrainian soldiers, adding that he distributed gifts and praise to the soldiers.
Zelensky’s chief of staff, Andriy Germak, wrote in the Telegram application that the Ukrainian president also visited the city of Kharkov, where he toured damaged buildings.
The president’s chief of staff added that 31% of the territory in the Kharkiv region is currently occupied by Russia and an additional 5% has been recovered from Ukraine.
