Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed on Friday that an international agreement be signed with his country’s allies to ensure that Russian reparations for war damages are paid.
Mr Zelensky, who argues that Russia is trying to destroy as much of Ukraine’s infrastructure as possible, said it would send a message that countries launching attacks would be forced to pay for their actions.
“We call on our partner countries to sign a multilateral agreement and to set up a mechanism to ensure that all those who have suffered from Russian actions can receive compensation for all the damage they have suffered,” he said during a recorded sermon.
According to Mr. Zelensky, under this agreement, resources, funds and other property of Russia in the Contracting Parties will be confiscated and handed over to a special war reparation fund.
“That would be fair. Russia would feel the weight of every missile, every bomb, every shell it dropped on us,” he added.
