Zelensky’s trip to the US is a message for Russians and Europeans, says professor

The professor of international relations at ESPM Leonardo Trevisan considers that the visit of the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States this week sends two important messages.

Zelensky had a meeting with US President Joe Biden and addressed Congress to applause.

THE CNN Radio Trevisan said that US support for the country in the war against Russia was reinforced for Ukraine.

“It is the greatest military power on the planet, with economic and military support behind the meeting and this formalization was for everyone to see”, he added.

In the first place, the message, according to the professor, is for Russian President Vladimir Putin, for “Russia not to believe that Ukraine is forgotten” in the midst of the conflict.

“The second message is for Europeans, who suffer from the energy crisis, gas prices”, so that they don’t think that it would be better if “they made an agreement with Russia anyway.”

For Trevisan, “it is evident that Europeans are the focus of this warning to remain alongside Ukraine.”

In these more than 300 days of war, Trevisan believes that there has been a geopolitical change in the world.

“The West is rebuilt, with America leading and Europe following suit, while the Eastern world is also reformed, with China and India on Russia’s side.”
