Zema announces R$ 560 million for the reconstruction of cities affected by the rains

The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), announced, this Friday (14), R$ 560 million for the reconstruction of cities affected by heavy rains.

“I can say that a significant part will be for reconstruction. We had many roads and roads affected by landslides, excess water and we need to re-establish these roads. It will also be applied to humanitarian issues, we will have priority treatment for people who had their homes destroyed, who will receive help until this situation is defined”, said Zema.

The Minas Gerais government also requested R$ 940 million from the federal government to support the affected cities.

“Our Civil Defense is providing support and assistance to the municipalities so that they formalize the technical reports, send the budgets of everything that was damaged so that we can document what happened and access this federal budget”, added the governor.

According to information from the Civil Defense, 376 cities are in an emergency situation due to the rains, corresponding to 44% of the state.

So far there are 24 dead, 3,992 homeless, who lost their homes, and 24,610 homeless people, who had to leave their homes without a return date.
