“Zombie” people in a cell with blood and dirt – American Marine describes imprisonment in a Russian psychiatric hospital

The American marine Trevor Reed spoke to CNN and described the detention conditions in psychiatric hospital of Russiawhere he had been since 2019, as he had been arrested by the Russian authorities.

The military he was released on April 28 at an exchange of detainees and stated that he was being held together with seven other detainees in a cell in a psychiatric unit. As he said, most of the detainees were imprisoned for violent crimesincluding homicides, and were “just people with a disturbed personality,” he said, acknowledging that he feared for his life.

“In that cell, you know, it was not a nice place,” he said.there was blood on all the walls there “Where detainees had committed suicide, or killed other detainees, or attempted to do so.” “The toilets are a hole in the floor. And, you know, there was dirt everywhere, all over the floor, on the walls. There are people in there who walk and look like zombiesHe added.

In fact, he said he believed he had been placed in a psychiatric ward because of his ongoing efforts to appeal his conviction.

According to Reuters, Trevor Reed, is a 30-year-old marine from Texas, who was convicted in 2019, with accused of endangering the lives of two police officers while drunk on a visit to Moscowwith the US government characterizing the accusations as political theater
