Zoom Seems To Be Aiming To Build An Enterprise App Suite Now

2020 will always be remembered for being an extremely tough year for millions of people. While many people became jobless and many businesses turned bankrupt due to the coronavirus pandemic, some companies actually thrived during this time. For tech firms, social platforms, and videoconferencing apps, this pandemic became a blessing in disguise. Due to global lockdowns and social distancing measures, people all over the world had to sit in the sanctuary of their homes and carry on with their work and educational activities through online videoconferencing platforms and tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Slack, Facebook Messenger Rooms, etc. These tools connected them with other people virtually and helped them go through all the difficult challenges brought by the pandemic together.

Zoom’s stock prices rose over 500% during all these months! This is an exceptionally dramatic surge and shows how widely popular the videoconferencing platform became amongst the masses.

However, now that the anti-COVID-19 vaccine has been released, there are chances that within the coming months, the horror of this pandemic will finally come to an end and the world will assume some semblance of normalcy.

So, What’s Next for Zoom?

When life gets back to normal post-pandemic, hopefully, regular work and study routines will resume as offices and educational institutes will re-open fully. So, videoconferencing will no longer be the top priority for many people. This thought has made Zoom start exploring some other avenues to offer users something more than video calls.

As per a report by The Information, Zoom is now trying to bring in its own email and calendar for the users, something akin to Google, along with some integrations with Dropbox and Asana, and exciting chat and job posting features.

Zoom’s email product may come next year.

Work on email service has already begun as per the reports, but the calendar service may take some time. Zoom has not commented or announced anything about this upcoming update as yet though.

Also, there are chances that Zoom may reverse its decision and these products never come out. So, nothing can be said until Zoom announces something itself. However, if the company is thinking to expand and venture into newer avenues, it is actually going to be good. Other competitor video-chatting platforms like Teams and Meet are parts of fully established enterprises like Microsoft and Google that have many other products too. If their videoconferencing platform does not earn spectacularly, they will still not go out of business because of some of their other product or service that will be popular amongst the users.

So, for the sake of business and competition, it seems that Zoom should also try to implement its expansion plans and work on some other interesting products and services too.
