Υπ. Environment: μέτρα Measures are being taken to reduce the charging costs of electric vehicles

Measures to reduce the charging costs of electric vehicles are being considered by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, while in April the second cycle of the subsidy program for the purchase of electric vehicles begins. The Ministry of Energy and RAE put under the microscope the selling prices of electricity at charging points which are set up to 60 euro cents per kilowatt hour.

As the Secretary General of RIS Alexandra Sdoukou pointed out at a recent conference, “there is a need to reduce prices on public charging, we will look at it very carefully because there is a risk of discouraging those who do not have access to a private charging point at home or work.” Given the price increases in electricity that concern all consumers and not only electricity, the reduction of VAT in this sector from 24 to 6% is being considered.

Under the second cycle of the “Electric Moving” program, the subsidy rate for the purchase of an electric car by individuals increases from 20% to 30% and the maximum amount to 8,000 euros from 6,000 euros in the previous cycle. Also the withdrawal of the old vehicle is rewarded with 1,000 euros, while the purchase of the smart home charger with 500 euros. For companies, the subsidy rate for the purchase of an electric car is also increased from 20% to 30% and the maximum subsidy amount will be 8,000 euros per vehicle.

After “I move electrically”, the announcement of the program “Charge everywhere” with funding from the Recovery Fund for the installation of publicly accessible chargers in places where investments are not yet profitable is imminent. The aim is to cover the whole territory with an adequate network of chargers as at present the main volume has been developed in the big urban centers and the national roads.
