A 10-year-old child was found dead after being missing for around 13 days in the Federal District. The motivation, according to those involved in the crime, was theft committed by the minor.
According to the Civil Police, João Miguel was killed by asphyxiation by two people over the age of 16. A minor under 13 and an adult also participated in the crime, who hid the body together with the two minors under 16.
“He would have stolen chickens, a water pump, hookah […] the main one would be the damage caused by the [furto do] horse that the suspects would have lost a value of R$2,500”, said the chief deputy of the 8th Police Station, Bruna Eiras.
According to the police, the crime occurred when João Miguel arrived at the suspects’ house to sell an electronic cigarette, which he did as usual. João Miguel was always accompanied by another cousin, but that day he went alone.
“They invited him to smoke a hookah and while the minor was distracted arranging the object, the 16-year-old minor took a rope and put it behind the victim’s neck. The other minor also helped by suffocating his face”, explained the deputy.
Still according to the delegate, the suspects wrapped João Miguel in a blanket and placed him inside a yellow barrel that they used to store horse feed.
“They took the drum with the victim already inside, got on the cart and took it to the woods, they already knew the area, they knew that there were several holes there, that it was a difficult place to locate the corpse, which would make it difficult for the police, so, they threw João Miguel in there”, said Eires.
The delegate responsible for the case stated that one of the minors involved in the crime had already told the others that she could no longer tolerate the attitude of the boy they welcomed into the house and that she was going to do something.
“She made it very clear that she was going to take some action and that day was the moment, because she said he was always with someone […] it would be a premeditated crime, but it was not organized in detail”, explained Bruna.
Furthermore, Eires stated at a press conference that the minor said she was satisfied with the fact, because now there would be no more theft in the region until after the crime.
“When they arrived home, she even posted a photo on her social network of her with the other minor under 16 with a song saying that they were going to eliminate their enemies,” said the delegate.
The police reported that the other two minors deny participating in the crime, while the older man confessed.
“He says that he actually helped with the concealment because the older woman was his wife and that he wanted to help her get rid of the body and try to make sure that everyone went unpunished for the crime,” said Eires.
The delegate stated that the older man is in prison and will be held accountable for hiding a corpse and corrupting minors and could be imprisoned for up to 15 years. The minors are now free awaiting the decision of the Children and Youth Court.
