The White Truffle of Alba it is the most valuable in the world and requires a significant expense: for some exaggerated, for fans not. However, there are some restaurants in the Lange and Roero that allow a great gourmand experience at (almost) cheap prices, where it is worth booking for a memorable trip out of town.
The great truffle season began on 9 October with the opening of the International Fair, obviously in Alba, which will close on 5 December. The “heart” of the fair is represented by Alba White Truffle World Market, open every Saturday and Sunday (as well as Monday 1st November) which is located in the Cortile della Maddalena. Inside there are Alba Truffle Show: the space of Foodies e Creative moments with great chefs in action, the Fresh pasta atelier, the Sensory analysis of the truffle and the Wine tasting experience. Between meetings and talk shows, there are also many collateral events linked to the event, starting with Alba Truffle Children, a space dedicated to children who will be able to learn while having fun, getting closer to the world of cooking but also to that of recycling and recovery of materials, with a view to sustainability.
The restaurants in the area will then participate in the project by giving even more prominence to the local specialties with special menus and special dishes designed for the occasion. This year promises to be not easy for gourmets, the first truffles are of good quality but few and therefore at already high prices: 250 euros per hectogram for medium sizes and 300 for those over 100 grams. Let’s be clear it remains a price but it is one thing to see on the menu – we are talking about important restaurants – a plate of tagliolini at 100 euros and another at 45. For those who love the king of tubers it is an almost religious moment: take the car and heads for Paradise, that is the entire area that has the capital in Alba dreaming of seeing the brown puff pastry slip on the aforementioned tagliolini, on risotto, on raw meat, on simple eggs … That’s why we decided to do our selection of places where the truffle is not given as a gift (God forbid) but you can have a good experience, at civil prices.
