1st edition of Rock in Rio turns 40; remember how it was

The 1st edition of the festival Rock in Rio turns 40 this Saturday (11) — the exact date that hosted the first day of presentations. In total, there were 10 days of music, with names like Erasmo Carlos, Ney Matogrosso, Rod Stewart and the Queen band in the line-up.

In the first Rock City, an area of ​​250 thousand square meters was chosen to host the event in Rio de Janeiro. According to information from Rock in Rio, on the stage — the largest in the world at the time, with an 80 meter ceiling — 15 national and 16 international attractions were programmed.

Still according to the festival, 1 million and 380 thousand people were present at the first edition, which took place between the 11th and 20th of January.

To celebrate the edition, the Rock in Rio He also prepared a musical to remember important moments of the festival so far. With performances at Cidade das Artes, in Rio, fans will be able to watch the musical between January 11th and February 23rd. Tickets are still available at Sympla website.

In 2024, the last edition of the festival celebrated 40 years of Rock in Rio in advance. Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Shawn Mendes, Imagine Dragons, Avenged Sevenfold were some of the artists who took the stage.

In this edition, the festival also reserved a day dedicated to Brazilian music. Entitled “Brazil Day” representatives of different genres and rhythms were confirmed, such as Luan Santana, Ana Castela, Alcione, Simone Mendes and Chitãozinho and Xororó.
