In 2025 some of the most beloved productions in television and the streaming reach the significant mark of 25 years on air . These series and programs by maintaining loyal audiences over the decades, have proven to be relevant and demonstrated that they can win over viewers from different generations.

To maintain the atmosphere of nostalgia, the CNN put together a list of seven productions that are still on air or, even though they are no longer produced, remain available on streaming platforms.

Big Brother Brazil

The confinement reality show continues towards its 25th edition. Each year, the program presents new dynamics and challenges, but maintaining the same successful formula: literally watching everything that happens inside and outside the house, making one of the participants a millionaire at the end of the television show.

The next edition will start on January 13th. The TV Globo reality show is expected to last 100 days, ending on April 22nd.

This year, the BBB 25 cast will also feature famous and anonymous participants, already known as “Camarotes” and “Pipocas”, as well as in the last editions of the reality show.


High Hours

In 2025, the program Altas Horas, presented by Serginho Groisman celebrates 25 years on air. Since its debut, in October 2000, on Rede Globo, the attraction has transformed the early hours of the morning into a space for historic meetings, mixing interviews, debates, humor and lots of music.


“Dora the Explorer”

In 2025, the children’s series “Dora the Explorer” celebrates 25 years. Debuting in 1999 and becoming a regular series from 2000 on the Nickelodeon channel, the animation quickly won over children around the world, including in Brazil, with its bilingual, interactive and adventure-filled approach.

“Family Guy”

With acidic and critical humor, Peter Griffin and his gang continue to provoke laughter and controversy. The animated series celebrates 25 years of success with special episodes and surprising appearances.

Its first airing was on January 31, 1999 and originally ended on February 14, 2002; however, due to the large number of viewers and the large sales of DVDs of the series, it was shown again on May 1, 2005.

“CSI: Criminal Investigation”

The series “CSI: Criminal Investigation ” revolutionized the detective genre when it premiered on October 6, 2000, on CBS.

Created by Anthony E. Zuiker, the series follows a team of forensic investigators in the city of Las Vegas, using science and advanced technologies to solve puzzles and solve crimes.

Although the original series ended in 2015, CSI continues to live in the hearts and memories of fans, in addition to still being available on the Netflix platform.

The series gained several spin-offs: “CSI: Miami” (2002–2012) CSI: NY” (2004–2013) CSI: Cyber” (2015–2016) and “CSI: Vegas” in 2021, marking the direct continuation of the original series, including the return of notable characters, reigniting fans’ nostalgia.

“Gilmore Girls”

In 2025, “Gilmore Girls” celebrates 25 years since its premiere, marking two and a half decades since Lorelai and Rory Gilmore emerged with their smart humor, snappy dialogue and heartwarming stories.

Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the series debuted on October 5, 2000 on The WB (later the CW) and won fans with its sincere and funny portrayal of the relationship between mother and daughter in the small fictional town of Stars Hollow.

“Malcolm in the Middle”

Debuting in 2000, “Malcolm in the Middle” became one of the most beloved comedies on American TV, garnering a dedicated fan base and still being relevant in many discussions about comedy series.

Created by Linwood Boomer, the program was broadcast until 2006 and had 7 seasons, totaling 151 episodes.
