There is information about the new generation of the fourth generation Mazda 6 sedan. The third generation debuted in 2012, since then there have been two restyling, and now it’s the turn of a completely new car.
It is reported that the fourth generation Mazda 6 will use a new rear-wheel drive platform, which provides for the installation of not only classic internal combustion engines, but also electric motors. The same platform will form the basis of the new generation of the CX-5 crossover, which will debut by the end of 2022.
The new-generation Mazda 6 is expected to receive a design inspired by the 2017 Mazda Vision Coupe concept with a long bonnet, a brand new radiator grille and a new diffuser. Already in the base, the new generation Mazda 6 will be a mild hybrid. Users will be able to choose between the Skyactiv-X 3-liter six-cylinder petrol turbo engine and the same displacement pipe diesel. In both cases, a 48-volt starter-generator will be installed. The total power of the power plant will reach 350 hp.
In addition, the lineup will include a plug-in hybrid and another hybrid modification with a rotary piston engine. The last to be added to the lineup will be the all-electric version of the Mazda 6.
