According to a study published in the Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry, perfectionists tend to bite their nails. To reach this conclusion, a group of people was surveyed, half of whom did bite their nails. Those who did turn out to have a Type A personality, who tends to work too hard and pay extreme attention to detail to make everything perfect.

2. Concentration

It is common for people who bite their nails to do so as a method of concentration. This habit is more common than we think. Of course, you have to be careful, as it could lead to oral or infectious problems. Try to stay focused in another way, whether it’s chewing gum or listening to classical music.

3. Impatience

4. Obsessive-compulsive disorder

The habit of constantly biting their nails could stem from an obsessive-compulsive disorder that unconsciously leads them to do something over and over again. Fortunately, this can be overcome with time and some will.
