5G Auction
Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency) is holding today the auction of 5G, a technology that will allow a faster internet connection, in addition to boosting technological development in the country. The event that takes place in Brasília involves 15 companies that have qualified for the different frequency bands offered.
Ciro suspends pre-application
The former governor of Ceará Ciro Gomes suspended the pre-candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic. The decision came after 15 of the 21 deputies of the PDT, Ciro’s party, voted in favor of the basic text of the PEC dos Precatórios, approved in the first round at dawn today. In a publication on social networks, he stated that the candidacy is suspended until the party’s bench re-evaluates the position.
Industrial production
Industrial production in Brazil dropped 0.4% in September compared to August. This is the fourth consecutive drop of the indicator. As a result, the industry is 3.2% below the level registered in February last year, in a pre-pandemic scenario.
Most expensive food in the world
World food prices rose for the third month in a row and recorded the highest increase in 10 years. The increases were caused by the values of cereals and vegetable oil, according to the food agency of the United Nations (UN). In Brazil, food prices are affected by inflation. The IPCA (Consumer Price Index) registered the highest number for the month of October since 1995.
Pill against Covid-19
The UK government today authorized molnupirvir, the first pill for the treatment of Covid-19. Approval was made after positive results from clinical trials in non-hospitalized and unvaccinated adult patients. US and European Union drug regulatory agencies are reviewing drug approval applications. Brazil joined more than 100 countries to study the medicine’s effectiveness. Fiocruz is part of the study.
