The general director of the Kronstadt company, Sergei Bogatikov, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that, technically, Russia has the ability to create a full-fledged killer robot. However, the main problem is how to teach him how to accurately use weapons on the enemy. Bogatikov noted that the armed forces have long existed systems that can automatically hit targets.
He believes that creating, for example, a drone that can operate autonomously on the battlefield is quite possible. Technically, this is feasible, but you still need to teach him to act independently in difficult battle conditions, to correctly identify the enemy and to use weapons accurately. In addition, there is also a moral and legal aspect, it lies in the fact that the robot hits the target, which is a living being. The head of Kronstadt added that a tremendous amount of work needed to be done that could change the ways of fighting. Ultimately, such robots may appear when not people, but machines will fight on the battlefield.
