A new step for Masoutis in Attica

By Giorgos Lampiris

According to information, the Masoutis supermarket chain is preparing a descent into the southern suburbs, specifically on Vouliagmenis Avenue in Glyfada, which sees further scope for development in Attica, while the Peloponnese is also a strategic target for further development of its activities. The new step in Glyfada will be with the construction of a building complex that will be built from the ground up, which will be located on Vouliagmenis Avenue on a plot of land with an area of approximately 5,000 square meters.

On the side of the plot facing Vouliagmenis Avenue, a Masoutis store will be created, while according to the same information, a large store of the chain of children’s and school supplies, Max Stores, will also be created on the same property. This plot is being developed by the real estate development company, Ten Brinke, while in addition to the property intended for commercial use, according to the same information, a luxury residential building is also expected to be created on the back side of the same plot, with Ten Brinke having has recently developed extensive activity in the construction of residential properties in the geographical area of the southern suburbs, in addition to the other categories where it operates.

In this way, Masoutis is positioned in close proximity to its competition, as a Lidl Hella store also operates in Glyfada and on Vouliagmenis Avenue within a radius of approximately 200 meters from the specific plot. Sklavenitis also maintains a store on Vouliagmenis Avenue and in particular at the junction with Prince Petrou Street in Glyfada, while he also acquired the building that housed the Nova Cinema Odeon cinema complex in the past.

Masoutis’ first dark store in Attica is already in operation

Masoutis, as you had read about in capital.gr in the context of the investments it implements in Attica, this time focusing on e-commerce, it recently put into operation the first dark store in the capital, in the area of Metamorfosi. The building located at the junction of Spartis 32 and Attica Odos has a surface area of 1,700 and covers the supply needs of Central and North Attica, having approximately 18,000 product codes. The dark store started operating in early August.

A stake for Masoutis, who after the agreement with the SYNKA group of Crete, now has a turnover of 1.1 billion euros, is also the investment in logistics facilities in Attica, a fact which, however, requires an investment of around 50 million euros and wide network of stores that will reach around 100. We remind you that in 2021 the company proceeded with the sale of the storage facilities in Markopoulos, which it had acquired with the acquisition of Promethevitis in 2018, which then marked the entry of the supermarket chain into Attica.

The sale of the Promitheftia warehouses was considered by the management of the Masoutis group as an opportunity, given that the offer received by the company for the specific warehouses in Markopoulo, Attica, exceeded the amount of 6 million euros, essentially constituting a move of the company on the chessboard of real estate. The amount of the price was what convinced the management of the company to sell the specific facilities to the company, Nikolaou Tools, continuing the supply of its stores from the central warehouses in Kavalari Thessaloniki until further notice.

Ten Brinke: Series of construction projects for all major supermarket chains

It should be noted that Ten Brinke, which undertakes this particular project in the southern suburbs, has previously collaborated in the construction of a store on behalf of Masoutis for the point of sale of the supermarket chain in Psila Alonia, Patras. At the same time, however, Ten Brinke maintains extensive experience in the construction of properties housing supermarkets. One of them was the Sklavenitis store in Skiathos, where the project initially encountered obstacles from the island’s municipal council and the decentralized administration, which initially delayed the development of this particular investment.

Ten Brinke, however, has also built other properties that house or are going to house supermarkets. Such cases are the store of AB Vasilopoulos on Piraeus Street, which is part of the commercial park built by the Dutch real estate development company and then acquired by the subsidiary of the Fourlis group, Trade Estates AEEAP. Also, at this time, the construction of another commercial complex in Kennedy Square in Halandi by Ten Brinke is at an advanced stage, where a store of AB Vassilopoulos will also be housed. In fact, Ten Brinke has agreed to sell the specific building complex after its completion to Trade Estates AEEAP of the Fourlis group.

Finally, ANEDHK Kritikos is currently investing in the construction of a supermarket in Agrinio, on a 3,023 plot of land, the construction of which has also been undertaken by Ten Brinke. The specific property is located at the southern entrance of Agrinio, in the direction from the Rio-Antirrio Bridge towards the city.
