Enthusiasts have released LineageOS 17.1 for the Nintendo Switch game console based on the Android 10 operating system.
The firmware came out of the “keyboard” of the same team that originally ported Android 8.1 Oreo to the Nintendo Switch a couple of years ago.
The Android 10 release is based on LineageOS 17.1 build for Nvidia Shield TV and brings many improvements over the last release. Among these key innovations is the “deep sleep” mode so that the OS does not waste battery power. According to the developers, the firmware is faster and more responsive than Android 8.1 Oreo.
Also, the developers note such features: updates “over the air”, full support for the Joy-Con, Pro and Hori Joy-Con controllers, “deep sleep” with which the console can last “weeks”, reduced fan noise, optimized touch control, “much improved »Wi-Fi operation and fewer disconnections, and much more.
The firmware is available in standard Android 10 and Android TV versions. The latter slightly reduces compatibility with applications, but improves the work of the set-top box in stationary mode.
Recognized bugs and shortcomings include the lack of support for games for Nvidia Shield, such as Half-Life 2, Tomb Raider, and so on, as well as audio glitches during Bluetooth transmission.
