‘A-‘ rating by the CDP for OTE in tackling climate change

OTE was rated “A-” for the first time by the international non-profit organization CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) for the way it publishes and manages the effects of its activities on climate change.

For 2021, OTE is in the category “Leadership A / A-” among 12,000 companies that were evaluated and is one of the two companies in Greece that are included in this category.

This year’s ranking places OTE much higher than the European average but also that of the sector of media, telecommunications and data center services, in which it is included.

OTE received the highest score for the certified monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions throughout its value chain, for their reduction actions but also for the general governance of issues to deal with climate change. This rating is a result of the long-term commitment, but also of the consistent environmental strategy of the OTE Group for climate change, which is at the core of the Group’s sustainable development strategy.

The Executive Director of Corporate Communication and Sustainable Development of OTE Group, Ms. Depi Tzimea stated: “The ranking of OTE so high, by an international body such as CDP is essential. It recognizes and rewards our systematic effort and the strategy we have chosen Already, the COSMOTE network is green and operated with electricity from 100% renewable energy sources. Our big goal is to achieve a zero carbon footprint from our operations until 2025 and from the entire value chain by 2040 “In the context of the Deutsche Telekom Group’s climate change strategy. We are continuing even more vigorously for a better world. A world we owe to future generations.”

The CDP is an international non-profit organization that manages a global information and evaluation system on the impact on companies, cities, states and regions of the effects on climate, forests and water security. For the evaluation it uses a detailed methodology which examines the completeness of the reports, the awareness of the seriousness of the environmental threats and their management, as well as the demonstration of good practices, such as the establishment of ambitious and substantial goals.

OTE has been participating in the CDP since 2010. It also responds to analyst ratings and participates in a number of international and national indicators of sustainable development, such as: FTSE4 Good, VIGEO-EIRIS Best Emerging Performers by Moody’s ESG Solutions, ATEEX ESG index, “Prime” Corporate ESG Performance by ISS-ESG, MSCI ESG Research and the Bloomberg LP Gender-Equality Index (GEI).
