Dyson is not only known for its vacuum cleaners. It is the largest technology company with its research and production centers in different parts of the world. Today, it produces a variety of household appliances, including highly original devices such as bladeless fans and face-blown headphones. And the other day, the company announced that it has an entire division that develops prototype robots to perform various household tasks.
Dyson did not release details, but it is already known that many of the robots look like ordinary robotic arms, adapted to perform household chores such as cleaning and laundry. For example, one of them is designed to vacuum chairs and sofas. Another cleans the dishes, moving them to the dryer, and the third collects toys after the child. The company also showed a laboratory where they develop machine vision systems that can detect objects and people in the environment using sensors, cameras and thermal imagers.
Dyson is currently recruiting. The company plans to hire about 700 engineers for a UK robotics center at Hullavington Airfield. This laboratory was secret, they wanted to develop a Dyson electric car there, but the project was closed in 2019. The company announced plans to invest about $3.5 billion in robotics, machine learning technologies and software two years ago and filed several patents on cleaning devices last year. Dyson believes that robots are the future.
