Experts of the analytical company IDC have prepared a report for the first quarter of this year, related to the server market. According to IDC estimates, in monetary terms, this market reached $ 20.9 billion. This figure corresponds to an increase in comparison with the same period last year by 12.0%. In the quarter, it sold approximately 2.8 million servers, up 8.3% year-on-year.

In fact, growth was only seen in the mass segment. Sales in this segment reached $ 17.3 billion, and grew by 15.4%. The mid-market segment, valued at $ 2.4 billion, saw a 2.7% decline in sales. High-end sales were up just 0.1%. This segment is $ 1.2 billion.

Dell remained the largest server supplier, but its share declined from 18.6% to 17.0% over the year. In second place is HPE, whose share has increased over the year from 15.5% to 15.9%. This is followed by Inspur, Lenovo and IBM with 7.2%, 6.9% and 3.3%. The distribution of the market between the main manufacturers is clearly shown in the diagram:
