The action of a 24-year-old man who ran over patrons of a cafe-restaurant in Paris with his car on Wednesday night (17/07), as a result of which one person was killed and six others were injured, “may have been intentional” according to his statements, the prosecution reported today. The suspect, who has no criminal record, was remanded in custody and taken to the psychiatric ward of the police department, the prosecutor’s office explained. The investigation was reclassified as murder and attempted murder and handed over to the criminal prosecution team. “This redetermination of events was made due to the statements of the suspect during his pre-trial detention, which suggested that the action may have been intentional,” the prosecution explained.
