Actress Hed Sambri ditches role as UN Ambassador to denounce ‘famine’ in Gaza

Tunisian actress Hed Sabry, who lives in Egypt, has announced that she is stepping down from her role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the World Food Program UNto protest the use of “famine and siege as weapons of war” in Gauze.

“After 13 years of humanitarian work around the world, I am leaving my role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the World Food Program,” the 44-year-old Tunisian actress, famous in the Arab world, said late last night on X (formerly Twitter).

In the Gaza Strip “famine and siege are used as weapons of war” against the 2.4 million inhabitants of the small Palestinian enclave, she complained, adding that she tried to make her voice heard, in vain, “at the management” of the World Food Program.

The World Food Program thanked the actress in a press release, noting her “quick response to emergency situations” that helped organize “a timely delivery of food aid to those who needed it most.”
