She breathed her last at the age of 88 actor Louise Fletcher, who became known to the general public as a nurse in “In the Cuckoo’s Nest”, a role that also won her an Oscar for Best Actress (she also won a BAFTA and a Golden Globe).
After putting her career on hold for years to raise her children, Fletcher was in her 40s and little-known when she was cast opposite Jack Nicholson in director Milos Forman’s 1975 film In the Cuckoo’s Nest, the who had admired her work the previous year in Robert Altman’s Thieves Like Us.
