“As long as our economy continues to grow at rates higher than those that had been calculated, additional fiscal space will be created which will be used to provide new support measures,” said Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis, on the Antenna television station, in response to a question, whether there will be new support measures for society. He cited as an example the electricity subsidies “which are the largest in all of Europe”.
Asked if our country will take measures to save energy from the autumn, he replied that it is a given that if Russia completely cuts off the supply of natural gas to Europe, all states will face problems. In this case, Greece will also need to take some measures, but we are certainly and will be in a much better situation than the countries of northern Europe.
Regarding inflation, he said that at the end of the year Greece will have inflation around the European average and explained why in the first half of 2022 inflation in Greece is higher than the European average.
Then Mr. Georgiadis pointed out that in 2022 and until today we have record investments in our country, adding that the unemployment index is at the lowest level of the last 15 years.
The minister also noted that Greece, “with Mitsotakis as prime minister, became an example to avoid, an example to imitate”.
Finally commenting on the successive incidents of femicides in recent days, he argued that we should encourage all women who receive violence from their partners to report it and the Authorities should be stricter in dealing with such incidents.
