Ad. Georgiadis: I urge the Greeks to take any kind of measure to reduce electricity consumption

“I urge Greeks to take whatever measures they can to reduce electricity consumption. Our daily habits must change, because electricity costs money.”

This was stated, among other things, by the Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis today in his interview with Parapolitika 90.1, while he added that the winter will be very difficult throughout Europe and when asked about the price increases he said that there is no way not to there are increases on the supermarket shelf.

Specifically, the minister said for the coming months: The winter of 2022-2023 will be a very difficult winter on a pan-European level. Let me tell you something that impresses me once again, see what a disciplined people the Germans are because we may curse them, criticize them but you can’t help but admire a people who at the critical moment can and do behave with so much responsibility . Their government comes out and tells them already from the beginning of August that they have to reduce the consumption of electricity and natural gas because they will have a very difficult winter in order not to stop their production, their economy, etc. They had set themselves the goal of reaching to 85% of gas storage coverage on October 1st and have reached it now because they have reduced gas consumption in Germany.

Regarding electricity, the minister said: I urge the Greeks to take all kinds of measures to reduce electricity consumption. They may no longer see how expensive electricity is on their bill because the state intervenes and saves them from this increase, but electricity as a good is very expensive, so our daily habits as we knew them in the past must now change because electricity now costs . If we do not understand this as a people and we do not show some signs of discipline and self-discipline, we cannot cry tomorrow because our economy is not doing well because the margins of the state are not inexhaustible. They don’t say let’s become Germans, we are fortunately in a much better fate than Germany in this matter and we are in a better fate because the Samaras-Venizelou ’13-’14 government created TAP with an opposing opinion of SYRIZA in the Parliament and now because of TAP we have to get natural gas from Azerbaijan, so we have an alternative source that the Germans don’t have. And the second, Mitsotakis, seeing a year ago what is happening with natural gas, had given an order and they had built a second FSRU in Revythoussa and we have twice the capacity to receive LNG and you can see that the tankers are queuing up in Revythoussa and unloading LNG and so Greece has natural gas supply proportionally larger than Germany and more diversified and less dependent on Russia, these are the great successes of Greece. You can understand that Greece is better prepared than Germany, this is not a reason for national pride!

As far as the accuracy is concerned, the minister said: There is no way that there will not be increases on the supermarket shelf. All the products in the super market even the domestically produced ones have imported raw materials in them, there is nothing exclusively domestic, our economies are dependent on each other.

Ad. Georgiadis: Erdogan and Putin prefer Tsipras to Mitsotakis – Attempt to destabilize governments across Europe

The minister also spoke in Parapolitika about a “bubble” of the political journalistic world, which has evaluated the case of surveillance” and in his opinion “is not as serious as it is presented”.

“Yes, it is sad what happened and it was an opportunity to see how the EYP works, but it was a legal connection of Mr. Androulakis. The legality has not been questioned even by Mr. Androulakis, if it is disputed it can go to the Court. As said the prime minister, there should have been more transparency and more loopholes,” the minister then emphasized.

As he said, in fact, “the proposal to establish an Examination Board is welcome”.

Then Mr. Georgiadis referred to an attempt to destabilize the governments that have stood against Russia. Among other things, he said: “All over Europe there is an attempt to destabilize the governments that have stood against Russia in the war. I don’t mean that Russia was watching Mr. Androulakis, but I am saying that all these centers that have built strong forces of influence magnify issues in order to cause problems that went against Russia. Similar is what happened with the Finnish prime minister.”

“SYRIZA wants to overthrow Mitsotakis and that is legitimate in a democracy. It is not legitimate when it goes out of bounds. It was out of bounds with the case with the islet in Evros. Imagine if the Greek army crossed the Turkish border, went to the islet , which is Turkish territory,” he then added.

Furthermore, Mr. Georgiadis added: “I didn’t say that outsiders and insiders are working together, I don’t know. I’m not saying they are working together, but that Erdogan and Putin prefer Tsipras to Mitsotakis based on their statements. I’m not saying that Tsipras is cooperating with Putin or Erdogan so I don’t get it wrong. I see an organized and coordinated effort by the Left with international publications.”

On the issue of immigration, the minister emphasized that “the opposition played Turkey’s game 100% to overthrow Mitsotakis”.
