His president has been severely criticized by his compatriots Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, who left the country on Sunday, handing it over to the Taliban.
In a statement posted on Facebook, he stressed that he had left the country to avoid bloodshed, while if he had stayed thousands of civilians would have been killed and the city of Kabul would have been destroyed. “The Taliban have won, and they are now responsible for honoring and protecting the Afghans,” he said in a statement.
The full statement of Ashraf Ghani:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Dear compatriots!
Today, I was faced with a difficult choice. I had to stand up to the Taliban militants who wanted to enter the palace or leave the beloved country to which I have dedicated my life to protecting it for the last twenty years. But if that happened, there would be countless my fellow martyrs and Kabul would be destroyed. The Taliban have decided to oust me, they are here to attack all of Kabul and its people.
To avoid bloodshed, I thought it was best to leave.
The Taliban have won with swords and weapons and are now responsible for protecting the country’s honor. They did not win legally. They are now facing a new historical ordeal. they will either protect Afghanistan’s name and honor or give priority elsewhere.
Many people are afraid and worried about the future.
It is essential that the Taliban reassure the world and women that they will maintain law and order and peace. To present a specific plan and share it with the citizens.
I will continue to serve my nation. We still have a lot to say about the future of the place.
Long live Afghanistan “
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Dear compatriots! Today I came across a tough choice. I stand with the armed Taliban who go to the palace.
