Afghanistan: Merkel is in favor of dialogue with the Taliban

The Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel was in favor of dialogue with them today Taliban, who are expected to announce the formation of the new government of Afghanistan, to enable the continuation of the operation to evacuate Afghan citizens from Kabul.

“We just need to talk to the Taliban about how we can get the people who worked for Germany out of the country and protect them,” she told a news conference.

Earlier in the day, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told the Welt am Sonntag that the Islamist movement wanted “solid and formal diplomatic relations with Germany”.
