The Turkish Defense Minister speaks of positive and constructive talks between Athens and Ankara. Hulusi Akar, in an interview with CNN Turk, refers to the hope of finding “solutions by peaceful means” between the two countries.
The Turkish Defense Minister referred to relations with Greece, stressing:
“We are conducting positive and constructive talks with Greece. We told them that we are in favor of dialogue. There was a train accident in Greece, we conveyed our grief. We hope to find solutions to the problems by peaceful means within the framework of good neighborly relations” emphasized the Turkish Minister of Defense.
In question about the F-16 issueAkar pointed out:
“We have fulfilled our obligations and we expect the same from our allies. We have noticed that the President of the USA has a positive view. The statements so far are positive. Positive statements are also made in the White House and the Pentagon. There are negative statements from some members of Congress. We want common sense to prevail. They must approach the problem rationally.
A strong Turkey means a strong NATO. Everyone needs to come to their senses. We were unfairly excluded from the F-35 program, which is unethical. Talks and discussions continue. On January 18, a meeting was held in Washington.”
