The Alerj Human Rights and Citizenship Commission (CDDHC) notified the Rio Public Prosecution Service on Friday (24) and also requested explanations from the police and the Public Security Bureau on the protocols used in the mega operation in the German complexes and da Penha, in the northern part of the city.
A letter was also sent to the Department of Health to take stock of the units affected on Friday morning.
The Human Rights Commission pointed out, by means of a note, that operations carried out without strategic planning, intelligence and war focused on the bankruptcy of the public safety scheme in the state. And repetitive actions only aggravate urban violence without offering lasting results, sacrificing innocent lives and deeply impairing the daily life of those who live in the communities.
“Once again the state uses such operations, choosing the easiest, more war and less effective path. Public security cannot be synonymous with war, which victimizes workers and the police themselves, without reducing violence structurally, ”said CDDHC president Dani Monteiro (PSOL).
Balance of the operation
In the mega operation triggered to control actions of criminals linked to the Red Command (CV) and fight cargo and vehicle theft, two people died, one man was arrested and at least two people were injured.
Among the dead is the gardener Carlos André Vasconcellos dos Santos, 36. He was the victim of a stray bullet while having breakfast on the banks of the BRT.
And among the injured is the military police policeman Diogo Marinho Rodrigues Jordão, who is still hospitalized in serious condition and a 21 -year -old who was injured indoors.
Alerj’s Human Rights Commission said it will contact families to offer care.
