Putin wants to discuss nuclear weapons cut, says Kremlin after speaking of Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin made it clear that he wants to restart negotiations on nuclear weapon cuts as quickly as possible, Kremlin said on Friday in response to the comments of US President Donald Trump.

Trump said on Thursday that he wanted to work to cut nuclear weapons, adding that he thought Russia and China could support the reduction of their own weapons capabilities.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the “ball was on Washington’s court.”

On Wednesday (22), Trump also threatened to impose new sanctions and fares against Russia if the war in Ukraine is not closed.

President Vladimir Putin, who replaced his defense minister in May, said the Russian forces are advancing much more effectively – and that Russia will achieve all its goals in Ukraine, although it has given no details.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he believed Putin’s main goals are to occupy the entire Donbass region, covering the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, and expel the Ukrainian troops from the Kursk region of Russia, of which have controlled parts since August .
