All in the red zone: all the rules of Christmas in lockdown

Red zone throughout Italy. From now to January 6, Italy is in lockdown with differences, however, compared to the total closure of the spring. From 24 December it is necessary to have a self-certification in which to indicate the reason for the move, the place of departure and the destination, but not the name of the person to whom you are going to respect privacy (here the form to download). The peninsula is in the red zone until January 6th. The only exceptions are the days in the orange zone from 28 to 30 December and 4 January.

The fine for those who violate the prohibitions ranges from 400 to 1000 euros. There are 70,000 people in control, including police, carabinieri, financial police, traffic police and army soldiers. The curfew remains from 10pm to 5am.

You can always return to your residence or home and you can always move for urgent reasons, work or health. However, self-certification is always required. The ban on travel between regions has already been active since Monday 21.

24 DECEMBER
Bars and restaurants are closed, except for the take-away and delivery service, and shops are also closed with the exception of pharmacies, supermarkets and grocery stores. Tobacconists and newsstands can remain open. Bookstores and toy and clothing stores for children are also open. Optical, electronic and telephone shops, pet shops and perfumeries. Hairdressers (not beauty centers) and laundries are open. You can leave your municipality to go shopping if another municipality has “points of sale necessary for your needs, even in terms of economic convenience”.

It is possible, once a day, the movement of two people under the age of 14 to a single private home, or with the disabled and not self-sufficient, but cohabiting. There are no time limits for those who volunteer. It is possible to go to Mass, the advice is to choose the church closest to home. In San Pietro, Rome, Pope Francis anticipated the midnight mass of Christmas at 7.30 pm on December 24th.

25 and 26 DECEMBER
On the two holidays all activities are closed. They can only be open for takeaway and delivery bars and restaurant services. Only duty pharmacies are open. On the 26th, some grocery stores reopen. Even in these days it is possible to travel only once a day to a private home with children under 14. For the messe it is recommended to follow those close to home. On the 25th the Urbi et Orbi blessing of Pope Francis is at noon from St. Peter’s Square.

DECEMBER 27th
Like the 24th, bars and restaurants are closed, except for the take-away and delivery service, and shops are also closed with the exception of pharmacies, supermarkets and food shops. Tobacconists and newsstands can remain open.

SMALL COMMON
Those who live in municipalities of less than 5,000 inhabitants can also move to another region between 5 and 22 on 24 and 25 December, but always within 30 kilometers of their residence (which they can do every day) and without going to the provincial capitals. “It will also be possible to visit friends and relatives within these times and territorial areas” says the decree that always allows people to go to second homes if in the region.

FOR ALL THE RED DAYS
Once a day it is allowed to move to a single private home of two people with children under 14, or with the disabled and not self-sufficient, but cohabiting. Those who visit relatives and friends can also stop and sleep.

You can leave the house to make one walk. Close to home and with a mask You can do sports alone. The parks remain open. You can walk the dog.

You can always go to the second box found in the region where you live.

INSIDE HOME
As for what is done in private homes, there are no prohibitions, but only recommendations. The indication is for two guests, excluding minors, holding the mask when not eating. Keep your distance and ventilate the rooms every hour. Better not to let the elderly and children stay close. Instead, there is a ban on organizing parties “in public places and in private places”.

ORANGE AREA
On the days when Italy is in the orange zone (December 28-29-30 and January 4) the shops are open, but closed bars and restaurants closed, which can however make deliveries and take away. You can move freely within your municipality and, if it has less than 5,000 inhabitants, you can go out within 30 kilometers without going to the provincial capitals.
