All regions of Brazil are on alert for intense rain, according to Inmet

All regions of Brazil are in alert for heavy rain this weekend, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).

The alerts are valid for this Saturday and Sunday and vary between potential danger and danger for the storms.

The institute divides warnings into three severity levels: potential danger (yellow), danger (orange) and great danger (red).

THE Northeast and Midwest must be the most affected regions. Most states are under orange alert for rain, which can reach 100 millimeters per day.

These regions may also suffer from intense winds of up to 100 km/h with the risk of falling tree branches, flooding and electricity cuts.

The North region is also expected to be impacted by the rains, with a potential danger alert valid until Saturday morning, but which could be extended. In all, 3,876 municipalities could be affected.

On the other hand, states of São Paulo and Espírito Santo There is no rain forecast for the weekend, for now, according to Inmet.

The coast of São Paulo has suffered from heavy rain in recent days. In the last 72 hours, the city of Peruíbe recorded 280 millimeters of rain, according to the state Civil Defense.

At the moment, 465 people are sheltered in three locations established by the city council. Civil Defense reported that the floodwaters had begun to recede.

Espírito Santo was also damaged by the storms. Between this Wednesday (8) and Thursday (9), 122 millimeters of rain were recorded in Serra, in Greater Vitória.
