Amanda Gorman, a star is born

You can’t really say that she didn’t get noticed. One of the personalities who most captured the attention of the world public (and its appreciation) at the inauguration day of the new president of the United States Joe Biden it was without a doubt the young poet Amanda Gorman, who had the honor of reading his – moving – lines of the poem The Hill We Climb after the presidential oath.

About a bright yellow coat which certainly does not go unnoticed – designer Prada – and a eye-catching fiery red headband? We don’t simplify and flatten everything, please! Sure, the 22-year-old’s look managed to rip more than one wow of admiration, but even more amazement aroused his evident talent.

A BA in Sociology with Honors from Harvard, Amanda was “chosen” as the guest of the ceremony by the First Lady Jill Biden, bewitched by some of his verses recited in Congress.

In an interview with Vogue Amanda Gorman explained that the choice to wear a color full of optimism and vivacity like the yellow it is to be read as a gesture in honor of Jill Biden: «She said she saw the video of one of my performances in which I wore yellow and she loved it». And so, this is the reason for the coat that could only be by Prada, one of the poet’s favorite brands, already a guest of the Milanese brand’s fashion shows several times: combined with a white shirt and black leather trousers, the already iconic coat it immediately sold out almost everywhere (you can still find it on Farfetch.com at 2800 euros).

The most attentive have also noticed the curious jewelry worn by Amanda Gorman. It is a gift from Oprah Winfrey: back in 1993, at the inauguration ceremony of Bill Clinton, the writer Maya Angelou declaimed her poem On the Pulse of Morning and on that occasion the popular TV star gave her a Chanel coat with matching gloves. A gesture replicated now, to renew this tradition of friendship and support for women, towards Gorman, to whom Oprah gave a couple of earrings gold in a circle by designer Nikos Koulis, but above all a curious one ring designer Of Rare Origin: on Amanda’s finger a little bird in a golden cage, perhaps a symbol of a freedom to be conquered.

The ring signed Of Rare Origin is on sale at 1290 dollars HERE.

“Receiving a gift from Oprah was a big surprise,” Gorman told again Vogue America, «This is the perfect finishing touch to a look I have carefully constructed. Fashion has great significance for me, it is my way of looking at the history of those who came before me and all the people who support me ».

And that fashion really has an important meaning for the promising poet is also evident from roundup of her looks in our gallery above.
