Organizational arrangements concerning OAED – in order to enhance the efficient absorption of EU funds – but also an extension of the favorable arrangement in force for 2021 for the granting of regular unemployment benefits to other seasonal employees – in addition to the tourism and food sectors – in an amendment of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
The amendment is submitted to the bill of the Ministry of Development “Fair Development Transition and regulation of specific de-ligation issues” discussed in Parliament.
More specifically, it is foreseen -among other things- competence of the Board of Directors of OAED to define the process of management of programs related to vocational training. At the same time, its financial services are being reorganized, so that the Organization can make the best use of the funds over 1 billion euros by 2025 that will be allocated primarily from the Recovery Fund, but also from the NSRF, for training and vocational training programs.
It is also proposed to extend the favorable regulation of article 71 of Law 4837/2021 which provides for the reduction of the minimum insurance days to 50 out of 100 for the granting of regular unemployment benefits to seasonal employees in tourism-food and the other categories of seasonal employees. These are workers in particular in the canning, sorting and other occupations related to agriculture and the processing of agricultural products, who were at risk of not completing the required number of insurance days, taking into account the adverse consequences of taking emergency measures to address of the coronavirus pandemic COVID – 19.
Thus, as an exception for the year 2021, it is foreseen that for the granting of the regular unemployment benefit to the seasonally employed, the required number of insurance days for the payment of the unemployment benefit is reduced from at least 100 to 50 days.
