The baseline Intel Core i3 processors of the new generation do seem to be very decent in terms of price-performance ratio.

New test results for Core i3-12300 and Core i3-12100 have appeared on the web. Both are quad-core CPUs with no small cores. That is, they offer a configuration that is classic in the modern sense. The younger model operates at frequencies up to 4.3 GHz, while the older one can offer 100 MHz more. At the same time, they are credited with prices ranging from $ 120 to $ 150.

As you can see, the new items look quite decent. Unfortunately, they have no direct competitors in the available diagrams, but in multi-threaded mode, for example, the new items lag behind the Ryzen 5 5600X by about 30%, and should cost about half as much.

If you look at the results in Cinebench R20, then the new items in multi-threaded mode are at the level of Ryzen 7 1700X and Core i5-10500.
True, of course, AMD is also preparing new CPUs, and the younger Alder Lake has not yet been presented, so full-fledged comparisons will appear early next year.
