the american actor Steve Burton was fired from the cast of the series “General Hospital” for not being in line with the program’s vaccination policy. Burton played the character Jason Morgan since 1991. Rumors about his departure were already circulating among fans of the attraction, and this Tuesday (23) the 51-year-old actor confirmed the information in a video posted on Instagram.
“I know there have been a lot of rumors and speculation about me and ‘General Hospital.’ I wanted you to hear from me personally. Unfortunately, the program dumped me because of the vaccination policy. I requested medical and religious discharge, and both were denied, which, you know, hurts”, explained the actor in the video.
“But this also concerns my individual freedom. I don’t think anyone should lose their livelihood over this. But having said that, you know me, I will always be grateful for my time at ‘General Hospital’. Perhaps one day, if these policies are lifted, I will be able to return and end my career as Jason Morgan. It would be an honor”, he concluded.
Steve Burton’s departure comes about two weeks after another actor on the show, Ingo Rademacher, left “General Hospital” for the same reason. Since the beginning of November, the TV show’s health protocols have required vaccination of all actors and the crew that circulate around the set when the actors are unmasked.
