An error in the Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle software immobilizes it even with a fully charged traction battery

A software bug has been found in the recently released Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle. It leads to the fact that the car cannot move from a place if the auxiliary battery, which supplies 12 V voltage, is discharged. The traction lithium-ion battery can be fully charged. The problem is that in some cases the booster battery is discharged even when the vehicle is charging. If fully discharged, the Mustang Mach-E will go into deep sleep mode, as indicated by the FordPass app.

Ford acknowledged the problem in a document filed with the US regulator. The manufacturer claims the bug is related to the vehicle’s transmission control module software and affects only a “small number” of Mach-E machines. In particular, cars manufactured before February 3. While the automaker is developing an update that will be distributed over the network and can correct the situation, the main way to solve the problem is to deliver the “sleeping” electric car to a Ford dealership.
