International and domestic pressure
Magnotta explained that, in general, three main elements make a ruler change his position.
“Firstly, the position is related to intense international pressure, including from allies. Then, a certain concern for one’s own public image. And finally, we tend to take into consideration how all this affects the internal power game.”
The analyst highlighted that, despite all these pressures having already been mobilized against Netanyahu, the ceasefire has not yet been accepted by the Israeli side, making the progress of the peace process difficult.

Magnotta also highlighted the US government’s concern about the impact of the situation in Israel on the US election campaign.
“The US government is particularly concerned because they know that, from a public opinion point of view, this will directly affect candidate Kamala Harris’ campaign,” he said.
President Joe Biden, who until recently had avoided directly criticizing Netanyahu, recently broke his silence.
Biden said he does not believe the Israeli government is doing enough to resolve the hostage situation and the conflict in general.
The recent location of the bodies of six hostages by the Israel Defense Forces, nearly 11 months after the Hamas attack on October 7 last year, has increased frustration among both the Israeli public and the international community.
