Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets Anatoly Aksakov stated that from 2026, Russians will be able to make payments in digital rubles abroad.

Anatoly Aksakov noted that it is first necessary to establish the appropriate infrastructure for mutual settlements within the country. According to the deputy, the experiment on the introduction of the digital ruble will be expanded.

“I think a couple of years will pass. We need to establish mutual settlements within the country first. We need to use 2025 to prepare and implement the digital ruble,” Aksakov said.

As the head of the financial market committee stated, all risks related to the introduction of the digital ruble should be eliminated. According to the parliamentarian, the full-scale introduction of the digital ruble into the economy and finance will help further development of industry and overcoming sanctions restrictions from the United States and the European Union.

Let us recall that at a meeting on economic issues held on July 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that cryptocurrency mining requires a significant amount of electricity.
