And Just Like That: Sex and the City sequel will have a second season

At HBO Max they want to strike while the iron is hot, ignoring that, by dint of deforming the raw material, the risk of getting burned is getting higher and higher. It remains that And Just Like Thatthe revival of Sex and the City who divided the fans between amateurs and haters, was officially renewed for a second season to the delight of Sarah Jessica Parker who, despite her attempts to get Carrie Bradshaw off her back, must now have resigned herself to the fact that her person will forever be an extension of her character. Beyond the easy enthusiasm, however, it is time to ask us a question: how much we needed a new season of a series that managed to stay on its feet mainly thanks to the initial input that providentially killed Mr. Big before actor Chris Noth was canceled from the star system?

Through a series of particularly successful grafts, how to represent Carrie in the delicate phase of widowhood and Charlotte struggling with a gender fluid world that her little ancient world did not seem able to tolerate, And Just Like That he also dealt with various limitations, first of all the involution of Miranda, who seemed a completely different character from the one we met in the Sex and the City original, and the bulky ghost of Samantha Jones which, as we know, will not return to the series, but which will continue to stand out in the background because we all understood a little bit that Sex and the City he will never really do without her.

Although shoots were put in the middle for the rest of the story – like Carrie’s dating with Franklin and Miranda’s new life together in Los Angeles with Che -, the wonderful scene of the protagonist wrapped in a haute couture dress by Valentino who scatters Big’s ashes in the Paris where he went to pick her up after the end of his relationship with Petrovsky remains etched in our memory (thank goodness the historical revisionism towards the Russian culture is not retroactive). That image was, perhaps, the best way to dismiss And Just Like That with a sigh of relief, aware that the writers have miraculously managed not to do too much damage. But now that the second season is in the pipeline, are we so confident that the project will continue to hold up?
