The update brings several new features that first debuted on Google TV, fell in love with users and are now coming to Android TV.

Starting this week, Android TV users will be able to add movies and TV series to their Watchlist, which will appear on the Discover tab. You can add movies to Watchlist not only on your TV, but also from other gadgets using Google search or using the Google TV mobile application.

Google TV also has the ability to customize recommendations using cards. This feature is now rolling out to Android TV, allowing users to decide if they want to see movies that are similar to the recommended ones. This tool can be found in the Discover tab or in the settings.

Another innovation is that trailers will be automatically played on the description pages. If desired, this function can be disabled in the settings.

A Google spokesman has confirmed that users will begin receiving these features on the Android TV interface starting this week.

Recall that Google TV is not a standalone OS and not a renamed Android TV, but an additional shell for Android TV. It is used in the new Chromecast media player, which debuted in October 2020.
