Actress Angelina Jolie, 49, wants her ex-husband Brad Pitt, 60, to end their legal dispute over the winery they shared while they were married.
The “Fight Club” actor and his ex-wife have been embroiled in a dispute over the $500 million Château Miraval winery since Angelina sold her shares in the wine producer after their marriage ended in 2016.
Now, Angelina’s lawyer Paul Murphy has revealed that the star wants Brad to drop the lawsuit against her. The legal representative alleged in a statement given to People magazine on Wednesday (17) that the Hollywood actor “attempted to punish and control Angelina by demanding a confidentiality agreement that had clauses added to cover up his personal misconduct and violence.”
As part of his lawsuit, Brad is suing Angelina over the sale of her stake in the winery, seeking damages and legal costs, as well as asking for the sale to be annulled.
However, Murphy said Angelina only wants to “heal” her family by proposing to end the litigation. The couple are parents to Maddox (22), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Vivienne and Knox (16).
“These actions are central to these proceedings. We are not surprised that Mr. Pitt is afraid to turn over documents demonstrating these facts,” Murphy said.
“While Angelina once again calls on Mr. Pitt to end the feud and finally put their family on the path to healing, unless Mr. Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina will have no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong.”
In May, the actress was ordered to hand over eight years of confidentiality agreements related to the winery dispute.
The recent ruling stated that the actress would have the burden of providing “all non-privileged documents in her possession, custody or control that are relevant” to a request from Brad’s team. This included any of the papers she had signed during that time.
