The creators of the metaverse The SandBox have acquired two French game developers to expand their range of digital products.
Metaverse parent company Animoca Brands has announced the acquisition of Darewise Entertainment, a studio founded by former Ubisoft executives and other game industry veterans. Darewise is currently developing a new massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Life Beyond.
Animoca co-founder Yat Siu said that his company is looking forward to the new collaboration and that developers’ experience in the games industry should transform all the products the company offers. The new franchises are designed to diversify The SandBox metaverse itself and provide players with access to non-fungible tokens across their favorite universes.
Earlier this week, Animoca Brands acquired racing sim developer Eden Games. With which plans to jointly create games using NFT. Animoca announces plans to release a brand new game to replace the company’s closed flagship product, F1 Delta Time. It is noteworthy that many players lost their NFT cars after the project was closed.
It is not yet known whether Animoca will integrate NFTs or cryptocurrencies into Life Beyond, but the purchase of a 70% stake in Darewise Entertainment gives the company virtually full control of the studio.
Recall that earlier the Japanese giant Bandai Namco, behind the publication of the popular game Elden Ring, launched a $24 million startup support fund that will develop projects in the field of AI, AR and VR.
