Another day with tragic records in Thailand and Tunisia

Thai health authorities announced on Saturday a tragic new record with 10,082 new coronavirus infections and 141 deaths due to Covid-19 being recorded in the last 24 hours.

Authorities are considering tougher restrictions to curb the growing number of infections in the latest wave of the new coronavirus pandemic in the country, which began in April.

The death toll in Thailand has risen to 3,240 since the beginning of the pandemic, bringing the total to 391,989, according to Covid-19.

Tunisia: Tragic record with 205 deaths in 24 hours

Tunisian health services have recorded 205 deaths due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, a record number of daily deaths since the start of the pandemic, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday.

According to the same source, during the same period, 6,787 cases of the new coronavirus were confirmed, raising new concerns about the country’s ability to fight the pandemic, with intensive care units being overcrowded and lacking oxygen supplies. The vaccination campaign against Covid-19 is very slow.

According to the World Health Organization, the daily death toll in Tunisia is the highest in Africa and the Arab world.

The total number of cases is about 530,000 and the deaths are over 17,200.

Brazil: 1,456 deaths, almost 46,000 cases in the past 24 hours

The Brazilian Ministry of Health informed yesterday Friday that 1,456 patients with COVID-19 died in the previous 24 hours and 45,591 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed.

The official death toll from the new coronavirus pandemic in Latin America has reached 540,398 deaths out of a total of 19,308,109 infections.

Brazil, with a population of 212 million, has the second heaviest population in the world, behind only the United States.

Germany: 22 deaths and 1,608 cases in the past 24 hours

Confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 in Germany have risen by 1,608 in the past 24 hours to 3,743,389, according to data released Saturday by the Robert Koch Institute, the country’s epidemiological watchdog.

The deaths of 22 patients with Covid-19 during the same period increased the death toll from the new coronavirus pandemic to 91,359 deaths so far, according to the same source.
